The Auditor General of the Republic of Kosovo, Vlora Spanca, accompanied by the Deputy Auditor General, Bezad Halilaj and the NAO delegation had an official visit at the State Audit Institution of Montenegro on Thursday.
The Kosovo delegation was received in a special meeting by the Head of the Senate of the State Audit Institution of Montenegro, Nikolla N. Kovačević with associates. On this occasion, Mr. Kovačević expressed his commitment and that of the institution he leads to intensify the cooperation with the National Audit Office of Kosovo. He further informed the guests about the work plans and achievements of the institution he leads.
The Auditor General, Vlora Spanca, extended her thanks to her counterpart for the reception and expressed her willingness to cooperate in areas of common interest.
Mrs. The Spanca further informed Mr. Kovačević for the work of the National Audit Office of Kosovo, with special emphasis on the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2023 – 2026, the implementation of the Annual Audit Plan 2022/2023 as well as the impact of the external audit for better management and higher performance in the state administration.
In particular, the counterparts discussed the legal regulation of the Supreme Audit Institutions of their countries. The Auditor General, Vlora Spanca, said that despite the fact that the Law on the NAO and the Auditor General in a broad context regulates and empowers the institution she leads, amendments are necessary and this would enable the implementation of risk-based audits and as well as increase the number of performance audits.
In this visit, the delegations of both countries have exchanged their knowledge and experience on other issues of common interest, such as: Quality control and quality assurance; Monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations; Audit management system; as well as the performance audit process.
The Kosovo delegation included the Assistant Auditor General Agron Fetiu, the director of Audit Methodology, Muhamet Balaj, director of the Regularity Audit Department, Faruk Rrahmani, as well as the director of the Performance Audit Department, Ariana Gjonbalaj.
